The 3M COMPANY 20131 is a liquid wood restorer designed to consolidate soft, spongy, and rot-damaged wood by penetrating deep into the wood fibers to create a firm, structural base. Applied by brush, the formula soaks into deteriorated material and stops active rot, preparing the surface for follow-up repair with a compatible wood filler. The restorer dries hard in as little as 2 hours, allowing repair work to continue in the same service call. It is water resistant and paintable once cured. The cap includes a built-in brush applicator for direct, controlled application without additional tools. Each container holds 8 oz of product.
This product is used in residential and light commercial repair and restoration work where wood components have suffered moisture-related rot damage. Typical applications include window sills, door frames, exterior trim, siding, and structural millwork. It is commonly used by carpenters, painters, and general contractors as the first step in a two-part wood repair process before filling with a compatible epoxy-based wood filler. The restorer is applied after loose or badly deteriorated material has been removed from the damaged area.
Designed for use as a pre-treatment step in wood repair applications, intended for use with a compatible epoxy wood filler applied after the restorer has cured.
Remove all loose, crumbling, or badly deteriorated wood material from the repair area before applying the restorer. Apply the restorer liberally to all damaged surfaces using the built-in brush applicator and allow to cure fully before proceeding with filler. Work in adequate ventilation and follow all safety data sheet guidance for handling solvent-based consolidants. Do not apply over wet or standing-water surfaces.
