The 3M AK020A1 is a confined space pulley designed to route winch or self-retracting lifeline (SRL) lifelines during vertical confined space entry and retrieval operations. Built with anodized aluminum construction and sintered bronze bearings, the AK020A1 delivers smooth, low-friction line movement under load. A pivoting sheave pulley guide keeps the lifeline properly aligned during use. The integrated self-closing and self-locking steel carabiner allows for secure attachment to anchorage points without the need for a secondary connector. This pulley accommodates lifelines up to 0.5 inches in diameter.
This pulley is used in confined space entry applications where a retrieval or emergency escape system must redirect a lifeline from a tripod or anchorage point down into the entry. It is suited for use by safety professionals, industrial hygienists, and confined space entry teams in municipal, utility, industrial, and construction environments where permit-required confined space entry procedures are followed.
Designed for use with winch and SRL lifeline systems in confined space entry setups; compatible with lifelines up to 0.5 inches in diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by trained, competent persons in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 confined space entry requirements and applicable ANSI Z359 fall protection standards. Inspect the carabiner gate, sheave, and bearings before each use and remove the unit from service if any damage, corrosion, or deformation is found. Attach only to rated anchorage points capable of supporting the required system load. Do not use this pulley as a primary fall arrest connector.
