The 3M 7100349604 is the Cubitron 1187C fibre disc, a precision abrasive grinding disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, weld seams, and fabricated surfaces. Built around 3M Precision Shaped Grain ceramic abrasive technology, this disc continuously fractures during use to expose fresh cutting edges, sustaining cut rate and reducing heat buildup across the grinding arc. The disc measures 5.4 inches in diameter with a 0.875-inch arbor hole and is rated to a maximum of 12,000 RPM. It carries an 80 Plus grit designation, positioning it in the coarse-to-medium range for rapid stock removal and surface conditioning. The distinctive purple color identifies the Precision Shaped Grain product line at a glance on the shop floor.
This disc is intended for use on right-angle grinders and disc grinders fitted with a Die 500P backing pad. Typical applications include weld blending, deburring, edge chamfering, and general stock removal on mild steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous workpieces. It is sold individually by the each, with packaging configurations of 25 discs per bag and 4 bags per case. Metal fabricators, pipefitters, ironworkers, and maintenance welders are the primary users in both shop and field environments.
Designed for use with Die 500P backing pads on right-angle disc grinders rated to a minimum of 12,000 RPM. Consult grinder and backing pad manufacturer specifications to confirm fitment before use.
Installation and disc changes must be performed by qualified personnel following all applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA abrasive wheel safety standards. Always power down and disconnect or de-energize the grinder before mounting or removing a disc. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and never exceed the rated maximum RPM. Ensure the backing pad is the correct Die designation and is in sound condition prior to mounting.
