The 3M 7100293677 is a general-purpose masking tape designed for paint masking applications in trade and industrial environments. Part of the 3M 101+ series, it features a tan paper backing with a rubber adhesive that bonds firmly to surfaces and removes cleanly within the rated temperature range. The tape measures 48 mm wide and 60 yards long with a 5.1 mil thickness, delivering a tensile strength of 22 lb/in. Painters, finishing contractors, and HVAC or facility maintenance technicians reach for this tape when they need reliable masking performance during spray or brush paint work.
This tape is suited for paint masking on residential and commercial jobsites, production environments, and maintenance applications. The rubber adhesive formulation holds edges tight to prevent paint bleed while allowing removal without tearing or leaving residue when used within its operating temperature window of 70 degrees F to 150 degrees F. The 48 mm width covers standard trim lines and surface boundaries efficiently in both hand-application and dispenser-fed workflows.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for MSC 52649365. Suitable for standard paint masking applications where a general-purpose rubber-adhesive masking tape is specified.
Apply to clean, dry surfaces free of dust, oil, or loose material for best adhesion and edge definition. Remove tape promptly after painting while the paint film is still slightly soft to reduce the risk of tearing or leaving adhesive residue. Do not exceed the 150 degrees F maximum operating temperature, as prolonged heat exposure can compromise adhesive release. No special tools are required; a tape dispenser or utility knife is sufficient for most applications.
