The 3M 7100272728 is a coated abrasive belt designed for precision material removal on metal, wood, and composite surfaces. Part of the 767F series, it features a ceramic abrasive grain bonded to a YF-weight polyester cloth backing. The open coat density reduces loading and helps extend belt life during aggressive grinding and finishing passes. At 80 grit, this belt falls in the medium grade range, making it well suited for stock removal and surface prep work where a consistent scratch pattern is needed before moving to finer grits. Ceramic abrasive grain is self-sharpening under pressure, which maintains cut rate longer than aluminum oxide alternatives. This belt supports both wet and dry operation.
This belt is intended for use in industrial and trade finishing applications where a narrow, short belt configuration is required. The 0.5 inch width and 24 inch length fit compact file belt machines, detail grinders, and inline belt tools commonly used by metalworkers, pipefitters, fabricators, and maintenance technicians. Wet operation capability makes it compatible with coolant-assisted grinding setups used in precision metalworking environments. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 200 units, making it appropriate for shop stocking or fleet maintenance programs.
Designed for use on compact file belt machines and detail grinding tools that accept a 0.5 inch wide by 24 inch long abrasive belt. Suitable for wet or dry operation.
Installation is performed by maintenance technicians and fabricators familiar with bench or handheld belt grinding equipment. Always power down and disconnect the tool before changing belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension per the tool manufacturer's guidelines before running the belt under load. Eye protection and appropriate respiratory PPE should be worn during all grinding operations.
