The 3M 7100258410 is a Scotch-Brite Roloc coating removal disc designed for aggressive surface preparation on metal. It uses an extra coarse silicon carbide abrasive bonded to a conformable, non-woven open-web construction. The disc mounts via a hook and loop attachment system for fast changeover between steps. At 3 inches in diameter, it is sized for use with right-angle grinders and compatible Roloc-style disc pads. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators use this disc to strip paint, remove rust, and clean weld-affected zones without gouging the base metal or undercutting edges.
This disc is suited for metal surface prep in fabrication shops, welding operations, and maintenance environments. It removes mill scale, weld discoloration, oxidation, and seam flash from ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The open-web structure runs cooler than coated abrasives and resists loading, making it effective for extended use on hard surfaces. It is commonly used in automotive bodywork, structural steel prep, and pipe weld cleanup where preserving base material integrity is critical.
Designed for use with Roloc-style hook and loop disc pads on right-angle grinders and die grinders sized for 3-inch accessories.
Installation and use of abrasive discs should follow ANSI B7.1 safety standards for abrasive products. Ensure the grinder is rated for the disc diameter and that the tool is powered off and unplugged before mounting or removing the disc. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves. Do not exceed the maximum RPM rating of the disc or the tool.
