The 3M 7100225986 is a flexible diamond abrasive disc engineered for heavy-duty grinding and finishing on hard-to-process materials. Built on a quick-release QRS hook-and-loop backing, it measures 5 inches in diameter with a 1 inch thickness profile and uses an M40 micron-graded diamond abrasive arranged in Pattern 18. The metal-plated bond system locks micron-graded diamonds securely to the cloth backing, delivering consistent cut rates while producing a controlled surface finish. This disc is well suited for trades working with materials that defeat conventional abrasives, including stone, glass, ceramic, carbide, metal, and composite substrates.
This disc is designed for demanding grinding and finishing applications where standard aluminum oxide or silicon carbide abrasives wear too quickly or fail to produce adequate results. Typical installations include fabrication shops, tile and stone contractors, glass technicians, and machine shops handling carbide tooling or composite parts. The QRS hook-and-loop attachment system allows fast disc changes on compatible random orbital or disc grinder tools, reducing downtime during high-volume material removal operations.
Designed for use on random orbital sanders and disc grinders equipped with a QRS hook-and-loop 5 inch backup pad. Suitable for grinding and finishing applications on stone, glass, ceramic, metal, carbide, and composite materials.
Installation is performed by pressing the QRS hook-and-loop backing firmly onto a compatible 5 inch backup pad before powering the tool. Ensure the tool is powered off and unplugged before mounting or removing the disc. Inspect the backup pad for wear or debris that could prevent full disc seating. Follow applicable shop safety protocols, including eye and respiratory protection, when grinding ceramic, glass, carbide, or composite materials.
