The 3M 7100214891 is a coated abrasive film disc from the Cubitron II 775L series, designed for aggressive stock removal on a wide range of substrates. It uses 3M Precision Shaped Ceramic Grain — triangular mineral particles engineered to slice through material rather than plow or gouge like conventional abrasives. The result is a disc that cuts faster and lasts significantly longer than standard abrasive discs. At 4 inches in diameter with a 220 grit rating, it is suited for fine to medium stock removal tasks. The PSA Stikita backing makes disc changes fast on compatible random orbital and finishing tools.
This disc is intended for use in finishing, surface prep, and stock removal applications across metalworking, woodworking, and composite surfaces. The 220 grit designation makes it appropriate for intermediate to finish-stage grinding and blending passes. The film backing provides greater tear resistance and edge retention compared to paper-backed alternatives, extending usable life in demanding production or field environments. It is well suited for professional fabricators, automotive body technicians, and general industrial applications where consistent cut rate and disc longevity are priorities.
Designed for use with random orbital sanders and finishing tools that accept 4-inch PSA-style hook-and-loop or Stikita-compatible disc pads.
Installation and disc changes should be performed with the tool powered off and unplugged or the battery removed. Ensure the backing pad surface is clean and free of debris before attaching the disc to maintain proper adhesion. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not operate beyond the rated speed for the tool. Follow applicable workplace safety standards for eye and respiratory protection when grinding or finishing.
