The 3M 7100211074 is a Cubitron II Hookit Cloth Disc 784F, a 5-inch diameter coated abrasive disc engineered for medium-pressure grinding and blending on metal and other industrial surfaces. It uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain, a proprietary blend of shaped ceramic mineral and premium aluminum oxide, to deliver a faster and more consistent cut compared to standard aluminum oxide discs. The waterproof cloth backing provides moderate flexibility, allowing the disc to conform to both flat and contoured workpieces. A built-in grinding aid extends disc life and reduces heat buildup during use. Fabricators, welders, and metalworking technicians are the primary installers and users of this disc.
This disc is suited for grinding, blending, and finishing operations in fabrication shops, manufacturing environments, and field metalwork. The 60-grit designation targets aggressive stock removal and weld blending where surface prep speed matters. The Hookit quick-change attachment system is compatible with 3M Hookit backup pads, reducing disc changeout time and minimizing downtime in high-volume finishing workflows. The waterproof backing makes the disc appropriate for wet or dry applications on metal, stainless steel, and similar hard substrates.
Designed for use with 3M Hookit backup pads accepting 5-inch hook-and-loop attachment discs. Suited for medium-pressure grinding and blending applications on metal and similar hard surfaces.
Mount the disc onto a compatible 5-inch Hookit backup pad secured to a right-angle grinder or random orbital tool rated for the disc diameter and operating speed. Verify that the tool RPM rating does not exceed the disc maximum RPM before use. Inspect the disc and backup pad for damage before each use and replace immediately if delamination or tearing is observed. Follow applicable shop safety protocols, including eye protection, hearing protection, and guarding requirements per OSHA and tool manufacturer guidelines.
