The 3M 7100203817 is a Cubitron II 984F abrasive belt designed for high-demand grinding and finishing operations on metal. Built on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing, it uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology — engineered ceramic abrasive grains shaped to fracture continuously into fresh, sharp cutting points. The result is a belt that cuts faster, runs cooler, and lasts significantly longer than conventional abrasive belts. At 36 grit, it is suited for aggressive stock removal on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys. It also contains a grinding aid that reduces heat buildup, minimizing discoloration and oxidation of workpiece surfaces.
This belt is built for medium to high pressure grinding applications where heat management and consistent cut rate are critical. It is well suited for robotic grinding cells and pressure-assisted grinding equipment where belt life and change interval directly impact throughput. Fabrication shops, aerospace component manufacturers, and industrial metalworking operations working with stainless steel and high-temperature alloys will find this belt appropriate for heavy stock removal cycles. Licensed metalworking and fabrication professionals installing or operating robotic or manual belt grinding systems are the primary users.
Designed for use on belt grinding machines accepting 118 inch by 2 inch abrasive belts, including robotic and pressure-assisted grinding systems used in metalworking and fabrication environments.
Belt grinding equipment must be powered down and locked out before changing abrasive belts. Confirm belt tracking and tension according to the machine manufacturer guidelines before resuming operation. Operators should use appropriate personal protective equipment including eye protection and gloves when handling abrasive belts. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear before installing a new belt to ensure even contact and proper belt seating.
