The 3M 7100201431 is a Cubitrona II cloth abrasive belt designed for medium-pressure grinding and blending on metal surfaces. It measures 125.75 inches long and 62 inches wide with an 80-grit rating, making it suitable for stock removal and surface blending across both flat and contoured workpieces. The belt uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology, which combines shaped ceramic abrasive with premium aluminum oxide to deliver faster, more consistent cutting action compared to conventional ceramic aluminum oxide belts. A YF-weight polyester backing provides moderate flexibility, and a waterproof backing construction supports both wet and dry operation. Licensed metal fabricators and industrial grinding technicians are the primary installers and users of this product.
This belt is used in robotic grinding systems, pressure-assisted abrasive equipment, and manual belt grinder applications across metalworking environments. It is engineered for use on all metals, including heat-sensitive alloys, where the integrated grinding aid helps manage process temperatures and reduce thermal damage to the workpiece. The 80-grit grade and YF-weight polyester backing make it appropriate for medium-material-removal tasks such as weld blending, deburring, and surface conditioning in fabrication and manufacturing settings.
Designed for use on all metals in medium-pressure grinding and blending applications, including robotic and pressure-assisted belt grinding systems that accept a 125.75-inch by 62-inch abrasive belt.
Installation should be performed by qualified grinding equipment operators or metalworking technicians familiar with belt grinder safety procedures. Always power down and lock out the grinding machine before changing belts. Verify the belt tracking direction arrow aligns with the machine drive direction before startup. Inspect the belt for tears or splice separation before each use and do not operate a damaged belt.
