The 3M 7100199629 is a Cubitron II 984F abrasive belt engineered for demanding metal grinding and finishing work. It uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing, which continuously fractures to expose sharp cutting points throughout the life of the belt. The belt measures 48 inches in length and 6 inches in width at 80 grit. A built-in grinding aid helps manage heat during medium to high pressure applications, reducing discoloration, oxidation, and heat-related stress cracking on finished parts. This belt is suited for robotic grinding lines, pressure-assisted equipment, and manual belt grinder setups used in metal fabrication shops.
This belt is designed for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys. The YF-weight polyester backing holds up under the elevated contact pressures common in automated and semi-automated grinding applications. Metal fabricators, weld shops, aerospace component manufacturers, and job shops running high-volume part finishing operations are the typical end users. Its extended belt life reduces changeout frequency and downtime, making it well suited for continuous production environments.
Designed for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys in medium to high pressure belt grinding applications on compatible 48 inch by 6 inch belt grinding equipment.
Belt installation should be performed with the machine fully de-energized and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the grinder manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage before mounting. Grinding on stainless steel and nickel alloys generates fine metallic particulate — appropriate respiratory protection and ventilation should be in place per shop safety protocols.
