The 3M 7100195940 is a 3-inch diameter fibre disc carrying the 787C designation, built around 3M Precision Shaped Grain ceramic mineral. The shaped grain geometry delivers a higher cut rate and a cooler grinding action compared to conventional fibre discs, making it particularly well suited for heat-sensitive metals. A built-in grinding aid further controls surface temperatures during aggressive stock removal. The stiff fibre backing and strong resin bond resist tearing under sustained load. This disc is designed for use by metal fabricators, welders, and finishing technicians who need consistent performance across high-volume grinding operations.
The 787C disc is intended for use on stainless steel and high-nickel alloys where heat buildup and disc wear are common problems with standard abrasive products. Typical applications include weld removal, weld blending, beveling, edge chamfering, and surface finish refinement. The 36-grit designation positions this disc for aggressive stock removal and initial weld grinding rather than fine finishing. It is sold individually (UOM: Each) and is compatible with standard disc pad face plates and hubs sold separately.
Compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs sold separately. Designed for use on stainless steel and high-nickel alloys in metal fabrication and weld finishing applications.
Mount disc to the appropriate backing pad and hub before operation; confirm all fasteners are secure before powering the grinder. Always power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing discs. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, gloves, and hearing protection when operating abrasive grinding equipment. Follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA abrasive wheel safety standards for disc speed ratings and guarding requirements.
