The 3M 7100192078 is a Cubitron II 784F cloth abrasive belt engineered for medium-pressure grinding and blending on metal surfaces. It measures 72 inches long by 2 inches wide and cuts at 60 grit using 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology — a proprietary blend of shaped ceramic and premium aluminum oxide. This mineral blend delivers a faster, more consistent cut and significantly longer belt life compared to conventional ceramic aluminum oxide belts. The waterproof polyester backing and resin bond construction also make it suitable for both wet and dry applications. Licensed HVAC fabricators, metal fabrication shops, and maintenance technicians working on heat-sensitive alloys will find this belt well suited to demanding production environments.
This belt is designed for use in medium-pressure grinding and blending applications across a broad range of metal types, including heat-sensitive alloys. The waterproof YF-weight polyester backing used at this 60-grit grade provides moderate flexibility, allowing the belt to conform to both straight and contoured workpiece surfaces. It is appropriate for use in robotic and pressure-assisted belt grinding systems where reduced changeout frequency and consistent cut rate are priorities. The grinding aid integrated into the abrasive layer cools the cutting zone, reducing heat buildup during extended passes on alloys prone to thermal discoloration or distortion.
Suitable for wet and dry grinding and blending applications on all metals. Designed for use in medium-pressure belt grinding systems, including robotic and pressure-assisted equipment that accepts 72-inch by 2-inch abrasive belts.
Abrasive belts of this type are installed and changed by trained machine operators or maintenance personnel following equipment manufacturer guidelines. Before changing a belt, power down the grinder and allow all moving parts to come to a complete stop. Verify belt tracking and tension settings per the machine manufacturer specification after installation. Inspect the belt for tears, edge damage, or splice separation before each use.
