The 3M 7100190175 is a Diamond Polishing PSA Cloth Disc in the 656WY series, designed to grind and polish hard-to-grind materials including carbides, ceramics, and similarly tough substrates. Micron-graded diamond particles are bonded to a flexible, J-weight waterproof cloth backing, delivering consistent cut and a long service life. The 3-inch diameter disc features a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing for fast, tool-free attachment to compatible backup pads. This disc is sized with a 1/2-inch arbor and is intended for use by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and precision grinding technicians who require controlled, fine-finish abrasive performance.
The 7100190175 is suited for precision lapping, polishing, and finishing operations on hard materials where conventional abrasives fall short. Its waterproof J-weight cloth backing makes it compatible with wet grinding setups and water-soluble coolants, supporting cleaner cuts and extended disc life. Typical applications include sharpening carbide tooling, finishing ceramic components, and fine-surface preparation in tool rooms or production grinding environments. The disc is available across multiple grades including 1800, 3000, 8000, and 50,000 mesh (equivalent to 9, 6, 3, and 0.5 micron), allowing operators to select the appropriate cut rate and finish level for each stage of the process.
Designed for use with standard PSA backup pads accepting a 3-inch diameter disc with a 1/2-inch arbor. Suitable for wet or dry grinding setups on hard materials such as carbide and ceramic.
Installation is performed by machinists or precision grinding technicians. Before mounting, ensure the grinding spindle or backup pad is fully stopped and the machine is powered off. Press the PSA disc firmly onto a clean, dry backup pad surface to ensure full adhesive contact before use. Follow the machine manufacturer guidelines for maximum operating speed and do not exceed the rated RPM for the disc size.
