The 3M 7100189349 is a Cubitron II 784F coated abrasive belt engineered for medium-pressure grinding and blending on metal surfaces. It measures 42 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width, cut to 60 grit. The belt uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology, which is a proprietary blend of shaped ceramic and premium aluminum oxide minerals. This combination delivers a faster, more consistent cut and significantly longer service life compared to conventional ceramic aluminum oxide belts. A waterproof YF-weight polyester backing supports both wet and dry use, and an integrated grinding aid helps control heat buildup on heat-sensitive alloys. Licensed HVAC, metal fab, and industrial maintenance technicians use this belt in robotic, pressure-assisted, and hand-held belt grinding applications.
This belt is suited for grinding and blending operations on all metals in both residential and commercial fabrication and maintenance environments. The moderately flexible backing conforms to straight and contoured surfaces, making it effective for weld blending, surface preparation, and stock removal. Wet or dry use is supported, expanding its range across coolant-assisted machine grinding and dry hand-held applications. Its durable resin bond resists heat degradation, reducing changeout frequency and downtime in high-volume or automated grinding setups.
Designed for use on all metals in medium-pressure belt grinding and blending applications, including robotic and pressure-assisted grinding systems that accept 42-inch by 1/2-inch abrasive belts.
Belt installation and tensioning should be performed by qualified personnel following the belt grinder or sander manufacturer guidelines. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the belt. Verify that the belt splice direction matches the machine rotation arrow before starting. Inspect the belt for damage before each use and replace immediately if tears, edge fraying, or splice separation are observed.
