The 3M 7100189022 is a silicon carbide abrasive cloth belt designed for grinding, blending, deburring, and finishing on metal surfaces. The 461F-series construction uses sharp silicon carbide mineral that fractures consistently, maintaining a clean cutting edge throughout the belt's service life. At 132 inches long and 4 inches wide with a P320 grit rating, this belt is built for backstands and similar stationary equipment. A heat-resistant resin bond locks the abrasive to a tough polyester cloth backing, making the belt suitable for both wet and dry use under sustained pressure and heat.
This belt is used in metal fabrication and finishing environments where consistent surface finish is critical. Common applications include grinding welds, blending surface irregularities, deburring cut edges, and achieving fine finishes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The P320 grit makes it most appropriate for finish passes rather than aggressive stock removal. It is typically used on backstands in shop environments by machinists, fabricators, and metal finishing technicians.
Designed for use on backstands and stationary belt grinding equipment accepting 132 inch by 4 inch abrasive belts.
Installation should be performed by qualified shop personnel familiar with abrasive belt equipment. Power down and de-energize the backstand or belt grinder completely before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the equipment manufacturer's specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for damage before each use and do not exceed the equipment's rated operating speed.
