The 3M 7100185690 is a large-format silicon carbide abrasive belt designed for grinding, blending, deburring, and finishing operations on metal surfaces. At 243 inches long and 62 inches wide, this belt is built for industrial backstands and wide-belt machines that demand consistent abrasive performance over extended run times. The P80 grit rating positions it as a medium-cut abrasive suited for stock removal and surface conditioning. Silicon carbide mineral fractures during use, continuously exposing fresh cutting edges and maintaining a uniform finish from the start of belt life to the end. A heat-resistant resin bond locks the abrasive to a tough polyester cloth backing.
This belt is intended for industrial and trade use on metal fabrication and finishing equipment. Typical applications include heavy-duty grinding passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, blending weld seams, deburring cut edges, and surface prep before coating. The water-resistant polyester backing supports both wet and dry operations, making it suitable for shops that use coolant or water during grinding. It is designed for use on backstands where consistent belt tracking and abrasive longevity under load are required.
Designed for use on industrial backstands and wide-belt machines that accept belts measuring 243 inches long by 62 inches wide.
Belt installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the machine manufacturer's mounting and tracking procedures. Ensure the machine is fully de-energized and locked out before changing belts. Confirm belt direction-of-travel arrows align with machine rotation before starting. Inspect the belt for cracks, tears, or splice damage before each use and do not operate a damaged belt.
