The 3M 7100179660 is an aluminum oxide abrasive belt engineered for intermediate to final finish work in medium-pressure grinding and finishing applications. Built on a durable X-weight cloth backing, it features macroreplicated abrasive bricks that contain multiple layers of abrasive mineral. Channels between the bricks continuously clear swarf from the work surface, keeping contact zones cleaner and cooler. A built-in grinding aid reduces friction during dry grinding, protecting the workpiece from heat buildup. The belt measures 15.5 inches in length and 3.5 inches in width. It is used by metalworking and fabrication professionals in production grinding environments.
This belt is suited for medium-pressure dry grinding and finishing on metal workpieces where consistent surface finish results are required across the full belt life. The controlled mineral breakdown characteristic of the Trizact 337DC construction allows operators to achieve predictable finishes from start to finish without significant performance drop-off. Its cloth backing provides the flexibility and durability needed for contour and flat surface work, and in many applications it can complete both grinding and finishing in a single operation, reducing overall process steps.
Designed for use on belt grinders and finishing machines that accept 15.5-inch by 3.5-inch abrasive belts in metal fabrication and production grinding applications.
Installation should be performed by qualified personnel following the machine manufacturer's belt-tensioning and tracking guidelines. Confirm the machine is fully de-energized and all moving parts have come to a complete stop before changing belts. Inspect the belt for damage before mounting, and ensure the arrow indicating direction of travel on the belt backing is aligned with machine rotation. Eye protection and appropriate PPE are required during operation.
