The 3M 7100178005 is a plasticizer resistant nylon hook fastener tape designed for secure, long-lasting mechanical attachment in environments where plasticizer migration from flexible substrates can degrade standard adhesives. The hook portion mates with SJ3523 loop fastener and features a plasticizer resistant PSA acrylic adhesive backed by a clear 3.5 mil polyethylene film liner. Engaged thickness measures 3.1 mm. The tape bonds well to paint, bare metal, painted metal, glass, sealed wood, and many plastics. It is rated for medium temperature performance and carries both high surface energy (HSE) and low surface energy (LSE) adhesion characteristics, making it versatile across common installation surfaces.
This fastener tape is suited for indoor applications where vibration resistance and repositionability are required without fasteners or mechanical hardware. Typical use cases include securing panels, trim, displays, signage, wire management assemblies, and other components to surfaces where plasticizer-containing materials such as vinyl or flexible PVC are present. The 2-inch width and 50-yard roll length make it practical for volume applications or repetitive cut-to-length work in light manufacturing, facilities maintenance, and similar trades.
