The 3M 7100176316 is a polyurethane-based marine adhesive sealant formulated for permanent, watertight bonds in demanding marine environments. It delivers extremely high bond strength both above and below the waterline, while remaining flexible enough to absorb stress from shock, vibration, and substrate movement caused by swelling or shrinking. The sealant resists weathering and saltwater exposure, making it well-suited for structural bonding and sealing applications where long-term durability is required. It is applied with a standard manual caulking gun and remains workable with a trowel or spatula for up to four hours after application. Licensed marine technicians and boatyards are the primary installers.
This sealant is designed for use on recreational and commercial vessels where strong, flexible, and waterproof bonds are needed. Typical applications include fiberglass deck to fiberglass hull joints, wood to fiberglass bonding, porthole and deck fitting installation, motor mounting on fiberglass transoms, under moldings, hull seams above and below the waterline, centerboard trunk joints, strut-to-planking interfaces, stern joints, and deck housing assemblies. The 1/10 gallon cartridge format is appropriate for moderate-volume work and fits standard caulking gun equipment.
Suitable for bonding and sealing fiberglass to fiberglass, wood to fiberglass, and similar marine substrate combinations including hull seams, deck fittings, portholes, transoms, struts, and planking assemblies.
Application is performed with a standard manual caulking gun. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of grease, wax, or loose material before application. Allow adequate cure time before exposing the joint to water or load-bearing stress. Work in a well-ventilated area and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when handling uncured sealant.
