The 3M 7100175071 is an insulation displacement connector (IDC) designed to electrically join two wires in a tap, in-line, pigtail, or double run configuration without stripping insulation. Rated for tap wires from 22 to 18 AWG and run wires from 18 to 14 AWG, this connector handles a maximum insulation outer diameter of 0.110 inches on the tap and 0.145 inches on the run side. Operating temperature reaches up to 194 degrees F. Each box contains 50 red connectors. Licensed electricians and low-voltage technicians install these connectors in automotive and low-voltage wiring applications using the recommended E-9BM crimping tool.
This connector is suited for low-voltage automotive and similar low-voltage wiring scenarios where a reliable, insulated splice or branch connection is needed without cutting or stripping conductors. The red color coding identifies the wire gauge range at a glance during installation. Typical applications include branch taps off a main run, in-line splices, and pigtail connections on 12-volt or other low-voltage circuit wiring. The box format with 50 pieces supports service technicians working repeat connector installations across a vehicle or wiring harness.
Designed for low-voltage automotive and similar low-voltage wiring applications accepting 22-18 AWG tap and 18-14 AWG run conductors. Recommended application tool is the E-9BM Crimping Tool.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians or low-voltage technicians. Always disconnect the circuit or vehicle battery before making any splice or tap connection. Use the recommended E-9BM crimping tool to ensure the insulation displacement contact fully seats and the cover locks closed. Do not exceed the stated wire gauge or insulation outer diameter limits, as an improper fit will result in an unreliable connection.
