The 3M 7100169912 is a Scotch-Brite surface conditioning belt designed for detail finishing work on a variety of metal surfaces. Built with a nonwoven open web construction and reinforced scrim backing, this belt handles blending, deburring, cleaning, contour finishing, and straightline-brushed finishes. The aluminum oxide abrasive grain is bonded with a resin system that reduces loading and heat build-up, allowing for extended run time without sacrificing consistent surface conditioning results. It is used by metalworkers, fabricators, and finishing technicians on both manual and robotic processing equipment.
This belt is suited for residential and commercial metalworking applications where fine finishing, grain setting, or stainless steel finishing is required. Typical use cases include blending weld seams, removing grind lines and mill marks, deburring edges, and achieving uniform flat or contour finishes on complex-shaped parts. Its conformable nonwoven construction keeps the abrasive in continuous contact with irregular or curved workpiece geometry, making it effective for robotic and automated finishing lines as well as hand-held belt grinder applications.
Designed for use on a variety of metals including stainless steel and other ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces. Suitable for use on belt grinders and automated or robotic finishing equipment that accepts a 45 inch by 4 inch abrasive belt.
Install on compatible belt grinder or finishing machine with the machine fully powered down and unplugged before changing belts. Verify the belt tracking and tension per the equipment manufacturer guidelines before resuming operation. Operators should wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when handling and operating abrasive belts. Follow facility safety protocols and applicable OSHA guidelines for abrasive product use.
