The 3M 7100166936 is a Scotchlok Insulation Displacement Connector (IDC) designed for fast, reliable wire terminations without the need to pre-strip conductors. The self-stripping design pierces insulation on contact, making field terminations faster and more consistent. This pigtail-style connector is rated at 600 volts for building wire applications and 1000 volts for signs, fixtures, and luminaires. It handles conductors from 22 AWG to 14 AWG and withstands continuous operating temperatures up to 221 degrees F (105 degrees C). The blue housing provides quick identification during installation and inspection.
This connector is suited for residential and commercial electrical work, including branch circuit wiring, fixture connections, sign installations, and luminaire terminations. Electricians use it where quick, code-acceptable splices are needed in junction boxes, panels, and fixture housings. Its self-stripping mechanism reduces installation time on multi-wire termination tasks.
Designed as an OEM-style IDC pigtail connector for use with 22 AWG to 14 AWG building wire, and rated for sign, fixture, and luminaire wiring applications.
Installation is performed by licensed electricians in accordance with the NEC. De-energize the circuit at the breaker and verify absence of voltage before making any terminations. Insert conductors fully into the connector before applying seating force to ensure proper insulation displacement contact. Do not exceed the connector's rated conductor range, as undersized or oversized wire may result in an unreliable connection.
