The 3M 7100164149 is a non-insulated ring tongue terminal designed for secure, permanent electrical connections in commercial and industrial wiring applications. Built with a brazed seam construction, this terminal accommodates 8 AWG wire and fits a 5/16 inch stud size. The ring tongue style fully encircles the mounting stud, meaning the terminal cannot be dislodged unless the fastening screw or bolt is physically removed. This makes it a dependable choice for connections that must remain intact under vibration or mechanical stress. Electricians and equipment technicians install these terminals where a solid, low-resistance crimp connection is required at a grounding lug, bus bar, or equipment chassis.
This terminal is suited for residential, commercial, and light industrial electrical work wherever 8 AWG conductors are terminated at a fixed stud or screw point. Typical applications include panel wiring, grounding connections, motor leads, and control panel assemblies. The non-insulated construction allows for inspection of the crimp joint and is compatible with standard heat-shrink sleeving when additional insulation is needed. Terminals are sold in a case quantity of 200, making them practical for service vans and shop stock.
Designed as an OEM-style ring tongue terminal for use with 8 AWG wire on 5/16 inch studs in standard electrical termination applications.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician or qualified technician following applicable NEC requirements. De-energize the circuit and verify zero voltage before terminating any conductor. Use a calibrated ratchet crimp tool sized for the terminal barrel to ensure a gas-tight crimp — do not use open-frame pliers as a substitute. If insulation protection is required over the barrel, slide heat-shrink tubing onto the conductor before crimping and shrink it into place after the terminal is secured to the stud.
