The 3M 7100160973 is a sanding screen disc designed for woodworking and finishing applications. It removes raised wood grain during final sanding and scuffs between finish coats without loading up. Silicon carbide abrasive is bonded to an open mesh backing, which reduces clogging and delivers more consistent scratch patterns across the work surface. At 7 inches in diameter with a 0.875-inch arbor, this disc fits standard random orbital and disc sanders used in flooring, cabinet, and furniture finishing work. The open mesh construction extends disc life compared to conventional coated abrasives.
This disc is suited for final-stage wood sanding and intercoat scuffing on flat and near-flat surfaces. Typical applications include hardwood floor finishing, cabinet finishing, and furniture refinishing where a consistent scratch pattern and reduced loading are critical between topcoat applications. It is used by flooring contractors, finish carpenters, and cabinet shops. The 100-grit rating makes it appropriate for light material removal and surface prep rather than aggressive stock removal.
Designed for use with standard 7-inch disc sanders and random orbital sanders accepting a 0.875-inch arbor, commonly used in wood floor finishing and cabinet finishing applications.
Sanding screen discs are installed and replaced by flooring contractors, finish carpenters, and woodworking professionals. Before changing discs, power down and disconnect the sander from its power source. Ensure the disc is properly seated and secured before resuming operation. Do not use on wet surfaces or at speeds exceeding the tool manufacturer's rated RPM for the disc diameter.
