The 3M 7100146282 is the Cubitron II 784F abrasive cloth belt, engineered for medium-pressure grinding and blending on metal surfaces. It measures 18 inches long by 1/2 inch wide and cuts at 120 grit. The belt uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology, a controlled blend of shaped ceramic and premium aluminum oxide minerals that delivers a faster, more consistent cut than conventional ceramic aluminum oxide belts. An XF-weight polyester backing at this grit level provides moderate flexibility, allowing the belt to conform to both straight and contoured workpieces. A durable resin bond and integrated grinding aid extend service life in heat-sensitive alloy applications. Licensed trade professionals and production grinding operators are the primary installers and users of this product.
This belt is suited for robotic, pressure-assisted, and hand-held belt grinding operations in metal fabrication, welding cleanup, and surface blending workflows. It performs in both wet and dry conditions on all metals, making it a practical choice for shops that work across carbon steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous alloys. The 120-grit designation places it in the finishing-and-blending range, appropriate for stock removal with surface finish control where medium pressure is applied consistently. Its waterproof backing supports coolant-assisted grinding without backing degradation.
Designed for use on standard belt grinding machines and robotic grinding systems that accept 18-inch by 1/2-inch abrasive belts, suitable for medium-pressure grinding and blending on carbon steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals.
Belt installation and replacement should be performed by qualified grinding machine operators or maintenance personnel with the machine de-energized and locked out per applicable LOTO procedures before any belt change. Verify belt tracking and tension according to the machine manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or splice separation before each use and do not operate a damaged belt.
