The 3M 7100143670 is a Quick Change Surface Conditioning XD Disc built for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. It uses an aluminum oxide abrasive bonded to a non-woven XD substrate with a stiff resin bond, delivering high initial cut rates and sustained edge durability in a single disc. At a 4-inch diameter and rated for 12000 RPM, it is sized for right-angle grinders and die grinders used by metal fabricators, welders, and industrial maintenance technicians. The quick-change attachment system allows fast disc swaps without additional tooling, supporting continuous workflow in production environments.
This disc is designed for deburring, blending, and surface prep work on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and high nickel and chrome alloys. The open non-woven web construction responds to surface irregularities, reducing the risk of gouging while still achieving aggressive stock removal. It is well suited for prepping edges and flats before final coatings or finishes, making it a practical one-step solution in fabrication shops, aerospace maintenance, and general metalworking applications.
Designed for use with quick-change disc holders and right-angle grinders or die grinders that accept 4-inch quick-change abrasive discs. Suitable for use on ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and high nickel and chrome alloys.
Installation and disc changes are performed by metal fabricators and maintenance technicians following standard abrasive safety practices. Ensure the grinder is powered off and unplugged before mounting or removing the disc. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 12000 RPM disc rating before operation. Eye protection, gloves, and appropriate respiratory protection should be worn in accordance with applicable safety standards during use.
