The 3M 7100142487 is a quick change cleaning disc designed for surface preparation work on metals and fiberglass. Built on an open nylon filament mesh construction bonded with silicon carbide abrasive, the disc cuts through surface contaminants rapidly while leaving a fine finish. The open, non-loading structure prevents buildup during use, maintaining consistent cut rates throughout the disc life. At 3 inches in diameter, it is sized for tight and difficult-to-reach areas where larger discs cannot operate efficiently. Installers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians working on weld cleanup, corrosion removal, or coating stripping will find this disc well suited to the task.
This disc is intended for cleaning, finishing, and blending operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as fiberglass substrates. Typical applications include weld bead cleanup, rust and scale removal, paint and varnish stripping, sealant removal, and surface blending before coating or inspection. The 3-inch diameter makes it practical for use in confined spaces such as pipe joints, flanged connections, and structural corners where a standard disc cannot reach. Compatible with both Quick Change TS and TR attachment systems for broad tool compatibility across common angle grinders and die grinders used in the trade.
Designed for use with Quick Change TS and TR attachment systems on standard angle grinders and die grinders. Suitable for metal and fiberglass surface preparation applications.
Install and remove this disc only with the grinder or die grinder powered off and disconnected from its power source. Verify the tool spindle speed does not exceed the rated maximum speed of the disc before operation. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves during abrasive disc work. Inspect the disc for damage or wear before each use and replace if filament integrity is compromised.
