The 3M 7100142410 is a quick-change surface conditioning disc engineered for aggressive material removal on metal surfaces. Built on a non-woven XD substrate with an aluminum oxide abrasive grain and a stiff resin bond, this disc delivers high initial cut rates and sustained edge durability through demanding deburring and blending operations. The open-web construction conforms to surface irregularities, reducing the risk of gouging while still removing material efficiently. It is typically installed and used by metal fabricators, welders, and finishing technicians working on production or shop-floor applications.
This disc is suited for surface preparation tasks on ferrous metals, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, and high nickel and chrome alloys. Common applications include deburring sharp edges, blending weld seams, and prepping surfaces for final coatings or finishes. The medium-grade aluminum oxide grain makes it a strong choice when moderate-to-high contact pressure is applied and consistent stock removal is required before a final finish pass. At 3 inches in diameter, it fits standard quick-change disc holders used in angle grinders and die grinders.
Designed for use with standard quick-change disc tool holders compatible with 3-inch surface conditioning discs, commonly used in angle grinders and die grinders for metal fabrication and finishing work.
Installation and disc changes should be performed with the grinder powered off and unplugged or air supply disconnected. Verify the quick-change holder is rated for the disc diameter and the tool RPM does not exceed the disc's maximum rated speed before operation. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when changing or operating abrasive discs. Follow applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive wheel safety standards during use.
