The 3M 7100141448 is an aluminum oxide cloth-backed abrasive belt designed for general-purpose material removal across metal and wood substrates. Running at 240 grit, this belt suits deburring, blending, and finishing passes where consistent cut and finish are required. The XF-weight polyester cloth backing resists tearing under grinding pressure and holds up in both wet and dry operating conditions. The resin bond maintains integrity at elevated heat and pressure, making it reliable for sustained use on backstand and benchtop belt sanders, stroke sanders, and portable belt grinders. Measuring 12 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width, it fits standard narrow-belt tooling used by metal fabricators, machinists, and maintenance trades.
This belt is optimized for mild steel and carbon steel deburring and surface conditioning. It also performs well on softer non-ferrous metals including aluminum, bronze, and brass, as well as select woodworking applications. The 384F series is a go-to choice for shops that need a reliable general-purpose belt across a mixed workload of substrates and operations, including wide belt grinding and finishing setups where consistent abrasive performance matters throughout the belt life.
Designed for use on backstand and benchtop belt sanders, stroke sanders, portable belt grinders, and wide belt grinding and finishing machines that accept a 12-inch by 1/2-inch abrasive belt.
Abrasive belts should be installed by the operator following the tool manufacturer's belt-change procedure with the machine powered down and isolated from its power source. Confirm belt tracking alignment before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or edge damage before each use, and replace immediately if damage is found. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when changing or operating abrasive belts.
