The 3M 7100141298 is an aluminum oxide cloth-backed abrasive belt designed for general-purpose metalworking and light woodworking tasks. Measuring 18 inches in length and 3/4 inch in width with a 120-grit abrasive, this belt suits deburring, surface finishing, and stock removal on mild steel, carbon steel, aluminum, bronze, and brass. The XF-weight polyester cloth backing provides durability under both wet and dry conditions, and the resin bond resists high heat and pressure generated during aggressive sanding and grinding cycles. It is installed and used by metalworkers, fabricators, and maintenance technicians.
This belt is suited for residential shop and light industrial environments where general metal deburring, surface prep, and finishing are required. Typical applications include backstand grinding, benchtop belt sanding, stroke sanding, portable belt grinding, and wide belt finishing operations. The 120-grit rating positions it as a mid-range finishing step, effective for smoothing surfaces after rough stock removal on mild and softer metals. The maroon cloth backing is consistent with the 384F product family across its available grit range.
Designed for use on backstand and benchtop belt sanders, stroke sanders, portable belt grinders, and wide belt grinding and finishing machines accepting an 18-inch by 3/4-inch belt. Effective on mild steel, carbon steel, aluminum, bronze, and brass substrates.
Installation is performed by the machine operator or maintenance technician. Always power down and lock out the belt sander or grinder before changing belts. Verify belt tracking and tension per the equipment manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Inspect the belt for tears or glazing before each use and replace if abrading performance has degraded.
