The 3M 7100138824 is an intumescent cast-in firestop device engineered to seal 3-inch metallic penetrations through fire-rated concrete floor assemblies. The device is set in place by attaching directly to the forming system before the concrete slab is poured. Once the slab cures and forms are stripped, the device creates a finished opening through which mechanical, electrical, or plumbing penetrants can be routed. In the event of a fire, the intumescent material expands to close off the penetration and maintain the fire rating of the assembly. Rated for up to 3 hours of fire protection, this device is specified and installed by licensed plumbers, electricians, and mechanical contractors on commercial and residential construction projects.
This cast-in device is suited for use in new concrete slab construction where fire-rated floor separations are required. It is positioned before the pour, eliminating the need for core drilling or post-installed firestop work at that penetration point. Typical applications include multi-story residential buildings, commercial office construction, and any project where metal conduit, metallic pipe, or similar penetrants must pass through a fire-rated concrete floor in compliance with applicable fire codes.
Designed for use with 3-inch metallic penetrations through fire-rated concrete floor assemblies in new construction applications.
Installation is performed before the concrete pour by attaching the device securely to the form at the intended penetration location. Licensed contractors in the applicable trade — plumbing, electrical, or mechanical — should coordinate placement to align with the planned penetrant routing. Verify compliance with local fire codes and the International Building Code before installation. Do not modify the device or use it with penetrant sizes or types not specified in the product listing and applicable UL or FM listing documents.
