The 3M 7100138819 is an intumescent cast-in firestop device designed to seal 4-inch non-metallic pipe penetrations through fire-rated concrete floor assemblies. The device is cast directly into concrete slabs during the pour, creating a through-floor opening for mechanical, electrical, or plumbing penetrants once the slab cures and formwork is removed. When exposed to fire, the intumescent material expands to seal off the annular space around the plastic pipe, providing up to 3 hours of fire protection. Licensed fire-stop installers, general contractors, and MEP trades install this device as part of passive fire protection systems in commercial and multi-family construction.
This cast-in device is suited for new concrete floor construction where plastic pipe penetrations must meet fire-rated assembly requirements. Typical applications include multi-story commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and multi-family residential structures where floor assemblies require rated penetration seals. The device accommodates 4-inch non-metallic pipe and is installed before the concrete pour, making it a pre-pour solution that eliminates the need for core drilling or post-pour firestop collars in applicable conditions.
Designed for use with 4-inch non-metallic pipe penetrations through fire-rated concrete floor assemblies in new construction applications.
Installation is performed by attaching the device to the concrete form prior to the slab pour; verify placement and alignment with the planned penetrant location before concrete is placed. Once the slab has fully cured and forms are stripped, the pipe or conduit penetrant is routed through the created opening. All firestop installations should comply with applicable building codes and the International Fire Code (IFC) requirements for through-penetration firestop systems. Do not modify or compress the intumescent material during installation, as this may compromise the rated performance.
