The 3M 7100136348 is a ceramic grain cartridge roll designed for precision grinding and finishing on metal, composites, and other hard materials. Built on an X-weight cloth backing, the roll offers durability under high-pressure grinding conditions. A resin bond system provides resistance to heat buildup, while a built-in grinding aid promotes cooler cutting temperatures to extend abrasive life and reduce workpiece discoloration. This roll measures 0.375 inches wide by 1.5 inches long with a 0.125-inch spindle arbor diameter, and carries a P120 grit rating for intermediate stock removal and surface refinement. It is sold in units of rolls with a minimum order quantity of 100.
This cartridge roll is suited for use in die grinders, cartridge roll mandrels, and inline pneumatic or electric grinders. Common applications include weld blending, deburring, contour finishing, and surface prep in fabrication shops, aerospace maintenance facilities, and general metalworking environments. Licensed tradespeople and skilled production grinders are the primary installers and operators. The P120 grit level makes it appropriate for work requiring a balance between material removal and surface finish quality.
Designed for use with standard cartridge roll mandrels in die grinders and inline pneumatic or electric rotary tools accepting a 0.125-inch arbor diameter.
Installation is performed by machinists, fabricators, or maintenance technicians using a compatible cartridge roll mandrel. Ensure the grinder is powered off and disconnected from the air supply or electrical source before mounting or removing the roll. Thread the cartridge roll onto the mandrel according to the tool manufacturer's instructions and confirm the roll is seated securely before operation. Always operate within the maximum RPM rating of both the roll and the tool, and wear appropriate PPE including eye and face protection.
