The 3M 7100134760 is a PTFE-impregnated glass cloth tape designed for high-temperature heat sealing and release applications in industrial and commercial settings. Known as 3M PTFE Glass Cloth Tape 5451 in brown, it combines a woven fiberglass substrate with a PTFE coating and silicone adhesive to deliver a durable, chemically resistant surface. At 5.3 mil total thickness, the tape offers high tensile strength, puncture resistance, and abrasion resistance. Low moisture absorption keeps performance consistent in humid or wet process environments. This tape is installed by maintenance technicians and industrial equipment specialists on heat sealing machines, conveying equipment, and process surfaces.
Tape 5451 is used as a heat seal tape on packaging machinery, where the bar or platen beneath a hot wire seals plastic film. It is also applied to conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts to create a slick release surface that keeps production moving. The brown color aids visual identification in multi-tape shop environments. Each roll measures 3 inches wide by 36 yards long, making it suitable for wrapping or facing equipment surfaces that require extended coverage without frequent splicing.
Designed for use on heat sealing machines, process equipment, conveying chutes, troughs, and ducts where a high-temperature PTFE release surface is required.
This tape is applied by maintenance technicians or industrial equipment specialists. Before application, de-energize and allow the target surface to cool completely to avoid burns and to ensure proper adhesive contact. Clean the substrate surface of oils, dust, and residue before applying. Smooth the tape firmly from one end to avoid air pockets, which can reduce adhesion and cause early edge lifting under heat cycling.
