The 3M 7100126838 is a 3-inch ceramic alumina fiber disc designed for aggressive material removal in metal fabrication and welding applications. Part of the 982C series, it uses a Premium Ceramic Alumina abrasive bonded to a fiber backing, delivering a consistent cut rate under high heat and pressure. At 36 grit, this disc falls in the extra coarse range, making it well suited for rapid stock removal, weld seam cleanup, and edge chamfering on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It attaches via a Quick Change TS (Type II) interface and is rated to 20,000 RPM. Licensed tradespeople and fabrication shop workers are the primary installers and users of this product.
This disc is intended for use with compatible Quick Change TS Type II right-angle grinders and disc holders. Typical applications include edge chamfering, weld removal, and aggressive stock removal on metal workpieces in both shop and field environments. The red fiber backing and extra coarse 36 grit cut make it particularly effective on heavy mill scale, weld spatter, and uneven surfaces where faster cutting action is required over surface finish quality.
Designed for use with Quick Change TS (Type II) disc holders and compatible right-angle grinders that accept 3-inch quick-change fiber discs.
Install and remove this disc only with the grinder powered off and disconnected from its power source. Always confirm the grinder spindle speed does not exceed the 20,000 RPM maximum disc rating before operation. Operators should wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when mounting or using abrasive discs. Follow ANSI B7.1 safety standards for the use, care, and protection of abrasive wheels and discs.
