The 3M 7100122891 is a Cubitron II 784F cloth abrasive belt engineered for medium-pressure grinding and blending on metal surfaces. It measures 18 inches long by 1/2 inch wide and runs at 60 grit. The belt uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology, a proprietary blend of shaped ceramic and premium aluminum oxide minerals that cuts faster and lasts longer than conventional ceramic aluminum oxide belts. A durable resin bond resists heat breakdown, and a waterproof YF-weight polyester backing supports both wet and dry operation. A built-in grinding aid helps cool the abrasive zone, making the belt suitable for heat-sensitive alloys.
This belt is designed for robotic, pressure-assisted, and manual grinding and blending applications in metal fabrication, welding, and finishing environments. Its moderately flexible backing conforms to both straight and contoured workpiece surfaces. The waterproof construction allows use with coolant or water-based fluids. The consistent cut rate helps reduce belt changeouts and downtime in high-throughput production settings. Metalworking shops, fabricators, and maintenance professionals working on carbon steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous alloys will find this belt well-suited to medium-stock-removal and surface-blending tasks.
Designed for use on all metals in medium-pressure grinding and blending applications, including robotic and pressure-assisted belt grinder setups that accept an 18-inch by 1/2-inch abrasive belt.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the belt grinder or finishing machine manufacturer's guidelines. Verify belt tracking direction before powering the machine, as most abrasive belts have a required run direction marked on the backing. Ensure the machine is fully de-energized and locked out before mounting or removing the belt. Inspect the contact wheel, platen, and belt tension system for wear before installing a new belt.
