The 3M 7100122768 is a Cubitron II 784F cloth abrasive belt engineered for medium-pressure grinding and blending on metal surfaces. It measures 18 inches long by 1/2 inch wide and runs at 36 grit. The belt uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology, a proprietary blend of shaped ceramic and premium aluminum oxide minerals. This combination delivers a faster, more consistent cut than conventional ceramic aluminum oxide belts and extends belt life significantly. A durable resin bond resists heat-related breakdown, and a waterproof YF-weight polyester backing supports both wet and dry applications. Metalworking professionals, fabricators, and robotic grinding line operators are the primary users of this belt.
This belt is suited for grinding and blending operations on all metals, including heat-sensitive alloys where the built-in grinding aid helps control process temperatures. The moderately flexible backing conforms to both straight and contoured workpiece surfaces, making it practical for finish blending as well as stock removal. It is well matched to pressure-assisted and robotic belt grinding setups where reducing changeout frequency and downtime is a priority. The waterproof construction allows use in wet grinding environments without backing degradation.
Designed for use on all metals in medium-pressure belt grinding and blending applications, including robotic and pressure-assisted grinding systems that accept 18-inch by 1/2-inch abrasive belts at 36 grit.
Installation should be performed by qualified metalworking or maintenance personnel with the grinder or belt sander powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify belt tracking and tension before resuming operation. Inspect the belt seam orientation and direction-of-travel arrow before mounting to ensure correct installation. Do not exceed the maximum surface speed rating of the machine or belt.
