The 3M 7100113142 is a coated abrasive disc from the Cubitron II 947A line, designed for high-efficiency grinding on metal surfaces. It uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain technology bonded to an X-weight polyester-cotton cloth backing, delivering fast, consistent cut rates over the life of the disc. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup at the work surface, which is critical when working stainless steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic metals where heat-related discoloration or work hardening is a concern. Resin bonding resists thermal breakdown. This disc is suited for medium to high pressure grinding applications where productivity and disc longevity matter.
The 947A disc is built for fabrication shops, weld prep, and metal finishing operations that process stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloys. The Hookit attachment system allows fast disc changes without tools, reducing downtime on production lines or job sites. Its cloth backing handles aggressive stock removal without backing failure, making it appropriate for both flat and contoured workpiece geometry. Licensed trades and industrial fabricators working to tight finish specifications will find the combination of cut speed and heat control particularly useful on heat-sensitive base materials.
Designed for use on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys in medium to high pressure grinding applications. Compatible with Hookit-style random orbital and disc grinders that accept 6-inch abrasive discs.
Installation and disc changes are performed by metal fabricators and grinders using compatible Hookit-style pneumatic or electric disc grinders. Ensure the grinder is powered off and air supply is disconnected before mounting or removing the disc. Verify that the backing pad is clean and free of debris before attaching the disc to ensure full hook-and-loop engagement. Always operate within the maximum RPM rating of the grinder and wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when grinding metals.
