The 3M 7100111602 is a coated abrasive hook-and-loop film disc designed for fast cutting and close-tolerance finishing on wood, paint prep, and defect repair work. Built on a flexible film backing with aluminum oxide abrasive grain, this 6-inch disc runs at up to 12000 RPM and delivers a consistent, uniform finish across the work surface. The film backing resists tearing better than comparable paper-backed discs, making it a reliable choice in high-production sanding environments where disc changes need to be quick and downtime needs to stay low.
This disc is suited for body shop technicians, woodworkers, and finishing professionals handling surface preparation, coating removal, and scratch repair. The P80 grit classification positions it as an aggressive stock-removal disc appropriate for leveling surfaces and removing defects before transitioning to finer finishing grits. Its open-coat construction and load-resistant anti-clog coating help maintain cutting efficiency when working with softwoods, paint, or other materials prone to loading the abrasive surface.
Designed for use with 6-inch hook-and-loop random orbital sanders and disc sanders accepting standard hook-and-loop backed abrasive discs.
Mount the disc by pressing the hook-and-loop face firmly onto the sander backing pad before powering the tool. Confirm the sander RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum of 12000 RPM before use. Inspect the backing pad for worn or contaminated hook material that may reduce disc retention during operation. Always wear appropriate eye and respiratory protection when sanding.
