The 3M 7100111499 is a unitized convolute metal finishing wheel designed for producing uniform satin, brushed, and mill finishes on metal surfaces. Built around a fiber core with open-web construction, the wheel combines conformability with consistent abrasive cutting action. The aluminum oxide abrasive media delivers controlled stock removal without undercutting or gouging the workpiece. At 14 inches in diameter with an 8-inch arbor bore, this wheel is sized for stationary bench-mounted or floor-standing finishing machines used in production metal finishing operations. It is sold individually.
This wheel is suited for production and job-shop environments where repeatable surface finishes are required on stainless steel, brass, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals. Typical applications include blending and matching 3 or 4 mill finishes on stainless steel sheet and components, and creating brushed or satin finishes on cutlery, appliance trim, builders hardware, and plumbing fixtures. The open-web construction resists loading and runs cool, making it effective on contoured and irregular surfaces as well as flat stock.
Designed for use on stationary finishing machines accepting an 8-inch arbor bore. Suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous metals including stainless steel, brass, and aluminum.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the machine manufacturer's mounting instructions. Power down and lock out the machine before mounting or removing the wheel. Verify that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the maximum rated RPM marked on the wheel. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and confirm the arbor flanges are clean and properly seated before starting the machine.
