The 3M 7100110020 is a 2.0 mil aluminum foil tape coated with a heavy application of mastic adhesive, designed for sealing and joining in HVAC duct systems and related sheet metal work. The mastic-based adhesive delivers high deposition coverage, forming a water-resistant bond that holds across a wide range of service conditions. Each roll measures 2 inches wide and 33.33 yards long, giving installers a full working length for large runs of ductwork or repeated splice and lap joints. Licensed HVAC technicians and sheet metal contractors are the primary installers of this product.
Venture Tape 1580 is used in residential and light commercial HVAC applications where a UL-classified foil tape is required. It is well-suited for sealing rigid fiberglass duct board, sheet metal ducts, and flexible duct connections. The UL723 classification with a 0/5 Flame and Smoke rating makes it appropriate for installations where building codes require listed materials on air distribution systems. It is commonly applied in new construction, retrofit projects, and service repairs where a durable, code-compliant foil seal is specified.
Designed as an OEM-style foil tape for use on rigid fiberglass duct board, sheet metal ductwork, and flexible duct systems where a UL-classified aluminum foil tape is required.
Installation is typically performed by licensed HVAC technicians or sheet metal contractors following local mechanical codes and SMACNA guidelines. Shut down the air handling system and ensure duct surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust or oil before applying the tape. Apply firm, even pressure across the full width of the tape to achieve proper adhesive contact. Do not apply to surfaces below the minimum temperature rating of the adhesive system or to wet duct surfaces.
