The 3M 7100109878 is a coated fibre disc built for high-aggression grinding on hard-to-grind metals. Designated as the 787C, it uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain, a ceramic abrasive engineered to cut faster and run cooler than conventional abrasive minerals. At 7 inches in diameter and 36 grit, this disc is designed for heavy stock removal. A grinding aid is incorporated into the disc construction to reduce heat buildup at the workpiece surface, making it well suited for heat-sensitive alloys. The stiff fibre backing and strong resin bond provide tear resistance under sustained load. Licensed trade professionals and fabricators use this disc with angle grinders and disc grinders in production and field settings.
The 787C disc targets weld removal, blending, beveling, edge chamfering, and finish refinement on stainless steel and high nickel alloys. Its Precision Shaped Grain delivers higher cut rates per disc than conventional fibre discs, reducing disc changes and downtime in high-volume fabrication or maintenance work. The grinding aid is particularly valuable when working with heat-sensitive base materials where discoloration or metallurgical changes are a concern. This disc is sold individually and requires a compatible disc pad face plate or hub, sold separately.
Compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs sold separately. Designed for use on stainless steel and high nickel alloys in weld grinding, blending, and edge finishing applications.
Installation and disc changes must be performed with the grinder powered off and disconnected from its power source. Verify the disc speed rating meets or exceeds the grinder's maximum RPM before mounting. Use the correct backing pad or hub as specified by the tool manufacturer. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows cracks, tears, or delamination.
