The 3M 7100106744 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and finishing metal alloys, plastics, and composites. Built with a soft, conformable construction, the wheel keeps abrasive media in consistent contact with the workpiece surface, even on complex geometries. The abrasive mineral is silicon carbide in a fine grit, making it well suited for light stock removal, edge blending, and surface finishing passes. At 0.25 pounds, it is lightweight and sized at 6 inches in diameter. Fabricators, metalworkers, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this wheel.
This wheel fits into bench grinder, angle grinder, and robotic finishing cell setups where consistent surface finish quality is required. Its conformable density allows it to follow contours on machined parts, weldments, and formed sheet metal. Applications include deburring punched or laser-cut edges, blending weld seams, and preparing metal surfaces ahead of coating or anodizing. It is equally capable on many plastics and composite materials where heat sensitivity or smearing is a concern. The unitized construction supports operation in both clockwise and counterclockwise spindle directions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard consumable for bench grinders, pedestal grinders, and robotic finishing systems accepting 6-inch unitized wheels with appropriate arbor configurations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified metalworking technician or toolroom professional. Always power down and lock out the grinder before mounting or changing wheels. Verify that the machine spindle speed rating does not exceed the maximum RPM rating marked on the wheel. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and follow ANSI B7.1 safe use standards for abrasive wheels.
