The 3M 7100106140 is a nonwoven abrasive disc designed for wet or dry finishing and polishing of contoured surfaces. It uses precision micron-coated silicon carbide particles bonded to a flexible nonwoven backing. The flexible construction conforms to irregular shapes, making it well-suited for work on softer materials including plastics, aluminum, brass, and copper. Available in 15.0 and 30.0 micron grades, the disc delivers a uniform, consistent surface finish while shortening hand sanding and buffing time. Machinists, metal fabricators, and finishing technicians use this disc as part of a structured multi-step or reduced-step finishing workflow.
This disc is intended for finishing and polishing applications on non-ferrous metals and plastics where surface quality and consistency are the priority. The 5 inch diameter fits standard backing pads used in both shop and field environments. Color-coded micron grading allows technicians to quickly identify and sequence grades without confusion, reducing errors during multi-step finishing processes. It performs equally in wet lubricated passes and dry runs, giving the installer flexibility depending on the workpiece and environment.
Designed for use on softer materials including plastics, aluminum, brass, and copper. Fits standard 5 inch backing pads used in finishing and polishing applications.
Secure the disc firmly to a compatible 5 inch backing pad before use. When using wet, ensure the workpiece material and surrounding environment are appropriate for fluid exposure. Inspect the disc for tears or uneven wear before each use and replace if the abrasive surface shows signs of loading or breakdown. Follow applicable shop safety guidelines including eye protection and respiratory precautions when dry sanding.
