The 3M 7100100244 is a coated abrasive belt from the Cubitron II 984F series, designed for high-demand grinding and finishing on metal. It features 3M Precision-Shaped Grain on a YF-weight polyester cloth backing, which continuously fractures to expose fresh cutting edges. This combination delivers fast stock removal while running cooler than conventional abrasive belts, reducing the risk of heat-related discoloration and stress cracks on the workpiece. The belt measures 132 inches in length and 2 inches in width, and carries an 80-grit designation. It is built for use in robotic, pressure-assisted, and manual grinding setups where consistent cut rate and extended belt life are priorities.
This belt is engineered for medium to high-pressure applications on stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys. The integrated grinding aid in the abrasive layer helps control heat buildup during aggressive stock removal. It is well suited for fabrication shops, aerospace component finishing, and industrial metalworking environments where downtime from frequent belt changes is a production cost. Robotic grinding cells and pressure-assisted belt grinders are typical deployment points for this product.
Designed for use on belt grinders and robotic grinding systems accepting 132-inch by 2-inch abrasive belts. Suitable for grinding and finishing stainless steel, carbon steel, cobalt chrome, nickel alloys, and other exotic alloys.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the belt grinder manufacturer's setup procedures. Ensure the machine is fully de-energized and all guards are in place before changing belts. Verify belt tension and tracking alignment before resuming operation. Inspect the contact wheel and platen for wear that could affect belt performance or cause premature failure.
