The 3M 7100099330 is a Trizact 217EA coated abrasive belt designed for intermediate finishing and fine polishing applications. It uses 3M microreplication technology, in which micron-graded aluminum oxide particles are formed into precise pyramidal structures and bonded to a JE-weight rayon cloth backing. As the pyramids wear during use, fresh, sharp mineral is continuously exposed. This self-renewing cutting action delivers a consistent cut rate and a predictable, repeatable finish from the start of the belt's life to the end. The belt measures 132 inches in length and 4 inches in width. It is used by metal fabricators, surface finishing technicians, and precision grinding professionals.
This belt is suited for intermediate stock removal and fine polishing steps prior to plating or buffing operations. The flexible JE-weight rayon backing conforms to contoured and irregular surfaces, making it effective for both flat and curved workpiece geometries. Its consistent cut performance and extended abrasive life make it well-suited for robotic and automated finishing applications where repeatable results are critical. It performs best under light pressure, which allows the abrasive pyramids to break down progressively and maintain cut consistency. A built-in grinding aid helps manage heat buildup, reducing the risk of heat-related warping or discoloration on sensitive workpieces.
Designed for use on belt grinders and finishing machines that accept a 132-inch by 4-inch abrasive belt. Intended for intermediate finishing and polishing steps prior to plating or buffing on metal workpieces.
Installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the equipment manufacturer's belt-tracking and tensioning guidelines. Confirm the machine is fully de-energized and any pneumatic tension systems are relieved before changing the belt. Verify belt travel direction matches the arrow marked on the belt backing, if present. Always use appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection and gloves, when handling and installing abrasive belts.
