The 3M 7100099293 is a 7-inch Quick Change coated fibre disc engineered for high-rate material removal on hard-to-grind metals. Built on a stiff fibre backing with a strong resin bond, it uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain to deliver faster cut rates and a cooler cutting action compared to conventional fibre discs. A grinding aid is integrated into the disc construction to minimize heat buildup during aggressive grinding operations. At 36 grit and rated to 8600 RPM, this disc is suited for weld removal, beveling, blending, and edge chamfering on stainless steel and high nickel alloys. Licensed trades and fabricators install it using compatible quick change disc pad face plates and hubs.
This disc is intended for use in metal fabrication and finishing environments where stainless steel and high nickel alloys are regularly processed. Typical applications include weld grinding, weld blending, edge chamfering, and surface finish refinement. The quick change attachment system allows faster disc swaps on the tool, reducing downtime during production runs. It is appropriate for both shop and field use by welders, metal fabricators, and maintenance technicians working on heavy-gauge or heat-sensitive base materials.
Compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs sold separately. Designed for use on stainless steel and high nickel alloys in weld grinding, blending, and finish refinement applications.
Mount the disc only on a grinder rated at or above 8600 RPM and confirm the tool guard is properly positioned before operation. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and do not use a disc that shows tears, cracks, or delamination. Follow applicable ANSI and OSHA abrasive wheel safety standards when mounting and operating coated abrasive discs. Ensure the quick change hub is fully seated and locked before starting the tool.
