The 3M 7100099282 is a coated fibre disc in the 787C series, designed for ultra-rapid cutting on hard-to-grind metals. It uses 3M Precision Shaped Grain, an engineered abrasive mineral that delivers higher cut rates and cooler grinding temperatures compared to conventional fibre discs. The disc measures 9.125 inches in diameter with a 0.875 inch arbor hole and carries a 120 grit rating, making it well suited for aggressive material removal followed by controlled surface refinement. A built-in grinding aid reduces heat buildup at the workpiece, which is critical when working stainless steel and high nickel alloys where heat-induced discoloration or metallurgical changes are concerns.
This disc is used in fabrication, maintenance, and manufacturing environments where weld grinding, blending, beveling, and edge chamfering are routine tasks. It performs on stainless steel and high nickel alloys, materials that load and glaze conventional abrasives quickly. Typical users include metal fabricators, industrial maintenance technicians, and pipefitters working on code-sensitive or finish-sensitive assemblies. The stiff fibre backing and strong resin bond handle the lateral forces generated during angle grinder work without tearing or delaminating prematurely.
Compatible with 3M disc pad face plates and hubs sold separately. Designed for use on stainless steel and high nickel alloys. Fits standard angle grinders accepting a 9.125 inch diameter fibre disc with a 0.875 inch arbor.
Install and operate this disc using a right-angle grinder sized and rated for 9.125 inch fibre discs. Verify the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum before mounting. Power down and disconnect the grinder from its power source before changing discs. Wear appropriate PPE including face shield and gloves, and inspect the disc for damage before each use.
